MUSIC SERVICE AIM/SERVICES PROVIDED

Aim

To enable schools to provide equal opportunities for all pupils to experience and enjoy music education of the highest possible standard.

The Music Service provides:

  • instrumental tuition and a range of additional support from experienced staff working within an established service;
  • a Musical Pathway to Learning from Nursery to KS2;
  • the opportunity for pupils to play together in a range of centralised orchestras, bands and ensembles;
  • African drumming;
  • access to performing qualifications through the graded examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity Guildhall London;
  • preparation, where applicable, for the practical aspects of GCSE and ‘A' Level music;
  • a programme of live music concerts in schools;
  • courses and concert tours;
  • an instrument hire/ maintenance service;
  • parents' evenings;
  • annual reports.
